Retaining Walls

Retaining Wall Design and Installation

A retaining wall is a structure that is designed to prevent erosion by holding soil in place. They are usually placed in areas with slopes. Although retaining walls are mainly installed for construction and erosion purposes, they can be a fine addition to a beautifully landscaped yard.  We call them “engineered works of art.” Our retaining wall design team is available for free consultations to discuss if a wall is needed at your residence or business. There are many options when deciding what type of wall and materials to install. Stone and concrete are commonly used. Some styles interlock to make installation much easier and cost effective. Large stones and railroad ties were commonly used in the past for retaining walls, but have been replaced for the most part by preformed blocks because they are affordable, easy to install and less expensive. When building landscaping retaining walls each layer must be backfilled to provide substance and adequate drainage.
